A WWII Japanese Sword with Silver Mon and Gold Coloured Tassel. A WWII Japanese Army officer's sword in mountings. The blade is signed 'Chounsai Emura saku', shinogi-zukuri circa 1940. Emura was the director of Okayama Prison and used prison labour to help him produce swords for the war effort. Listed on page 28 of Slough. The blade is traditionally hand forged and water tempered, is in old original polish and overall is in excellent condition. The outstanding hamon is a gunome-choji temper pattern with a deep boshi temper line at the point. The forging grain pattern is a tight itame-hada. The saya is of lacquered wood with fine ishime lacquer which is in excellent condition. The tsuka is a tight fit, with a silver Yo kamon on the fuchi, and the tsuka-ito is in good condition. The tsuba and seppa are a matched set all stamped number 3 with the lock mechanism working as it should. The blade is 26+1/8 inches or approximately 66.4cm long.
