Let's talk about the elephant in the room!
Well, we did on Tuesday – when a glorious Antique 14K Gold and Enamel Russian surprise egg was sold for £14,000 (hammer price).
What was the surprise?
Inside the egg, a miniature silver, gold, and gemstone decorated elephant, minding its own business.
Congratulations to the new owner of this unique piece!
Our Monday auction called for trebles all round, as one lucky bidder snapped up a bottle of 1964 Krug vintage champagne for £1000 (hammer price) and all our ancient groats, half-groats and sixpence coins found a home.
