A Magnificent Chinese 20th Century, Solid Silver and Enamel Tea Set and Tray. Incredible workmanship. A superb handmade full size teapot or wine pot ewer with six original matching goblet cups and matching original serving tray. The set is constructed of thick solid sterling silver, that is then richly gold gilded throughout. Enamel and filigree work with turquoise jewelling. Each part is hallmarked Chinese silver (stamped SILVER). Good condition but with minor imperfections including some missing stones consistent with the fragile nature and vintage age. Overall, substantially fine and intact as seen. UV light reveals no hidden damage, touch ups or repairs. Several of the pieces could use a minor cleaning. Teapot/wine ewer measures approx 11 inches tall, 7.5 inches in length and holds 1250ml or 42oz. Each cups measure approx 3 and 5/8 inches tall, 2.25 inches diameter at the rim. Serving platter tray measures approx 20 inches in length across the handles, 10 inches wide overall, or the serving area measures 13 and 3/4 inches x 7 inches. 3427g total weight for the set. We are told the collector paid upwards of $20,000 for this set 25 -30 years ago and that such sets are highly sought after by prominent families and collectors.
