A Māori group of artefacts of great anthropological interest: A vintage (or older) fishing lure with a cowrie shell and a Triple (!) shark’s teeth hook.
A heavy black box decorated with 3D traditional Māori war scenes between humans and mythical beasts
Containing three traditional pendants: A HEI MATAU bone hook that “grants strength, good luck and safe travels
over water”, A beautifully carved black Jade KORU depicting the unfurling frond of the New Zealand silver fern
“representing new beginnings, life & hope”, and A green jade PIKORUA resembling pikopiko ferns “symbolising an
everlasting bond of friendship, love and loyalty”.
Finally, an old black & white photo of two “beauties” with the inscription on verso: “Ngatiwahiao tribe
Whakarewarena 22-12-1948”.
