Day 1 of Three-day Sale
Lot 209:
A M1 (E) Garand Bayonet. Rare maker: Oneida Limited. This is a “E” which stood for experimental. It was made from a cutdown 16-inch bayonet when the need for a shorter fighting knife/bayonet was being trialed. This proved a success, and the shorter bayonet went into production by the end of 1943. You can see that the “Fuller” or blood channel has been cut whereas a later standard M1 has a spear point after the Fuller.
