A GVR Police Coronation Medal 1911, St John Ambulance Bde reverse. Named to: Supt F C Edgell. This is a less common award to a Divisional Superintendent.
Frederick Charles Edgell was born in Redhill on 6 June 1882. In addition to his service with the SJAB, he enlisted in the RAMC (Pte 22187) on 4 May 1915 and
was rapidly promoted from Private to Staff Sergeant. However, he was discharged on 15 December 1916 as no longer physically fit for war service and was awarded
the Silver War Badge (Sickness). He served at home only and so had no war medal entitlement. He died at Walthamstow in 1963 aged 81.
Very Fine (VF) condition.
