He enlisted into the 68 th regiment in 1868 aged 18 years and served for 21 years with the same regiment (the 68 th Foot becoming the 1 st
Battalion Durham Light Infantry in 1881 following the Cardwell-Childers reforms of the Army) of which 15 years were spent in India. This LSGC Medal, awarded in
1882, is his sole medal entitlement. With biographical notes and copies of his Record of Service and pension papers. In Good Very Fine (GVF) condition.
