Territorial Force Efficiency Medal GVR named to 240017 Private E Champion, 5/E Kent R (5th Battalion, East Kent Regiment – ‘The Buffs’). Edward Champion was born in 1891 and joined the Territorial Force in 1911. He served later during the First World War with the 2nd battalion, disembarking in France on 17 January 1915, and
later moved with his battalion to Salonika where he was wounded and awarded the Silver War badge. He transferred to the Bedfordshire Regiment and was discharged in 1918. He was entitled to the 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal and was awarded the TFEM in 1919. He died on 20 March 1923, aged just 31
years, probably from the effects of his wounds. With biographical notes and copies of his Medal Index Card and extracts from medal rolls showing his entitlement to WW1
medals. very Fine (VF) condition.
