Unofficial Guinea Pig Club Silver Brooch in original box. These were worn by patients and families of Sir Archibald McIndoe’s “Guinea Pigs” a name given to servicemen who had received horrific burns and underwent experimental plastic surgery. In 1941 a special ward known as “The Sty” was set up. It had a piano and even regular servings of beer.
